About SendSafely

Our story

A security team that built the tool they wished existed.

SendSafely didn't start as a product. It started as an internal tool, built by security engineers who needed a safer way to exchange sensitive files with their own clients.

SendSafely was incubated inside the Research Labs of Gotham Digital Science (GDS), a leading international software security consulting firm¹. The team built the original platform to exchange sensitive data with their consulting clients, because every existing option forced the same trade-off: convenience or real end-to-end encryption, pick one.

After enough clients asked to license the tool for their own use, SendSafely was spun off as a separate company. Today it's used by organizations around the world to exchange regulated data with customers, partners, and outsourced teams.

We're a fully remote, US-based team. We hire people who care about the important parts of security: secure code, building trust, key management, audit logs, the cryptographic details. That's the work.

Brian Holyfield

Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer

Brian spent more than a decade performing penetration testing and secure code reviews, first at EY’s Advanced Security Center and later as a co-founder of Gotham Digital Science. He graduated from the University of Florida and has presented his security research at Black Hat, RSA, OWASP AppSec USA, and ShmooCon. Today, he leads product strategy at SendSafely, applying that experience to building secure data-exchange tools that are both practical and easy to use.

Joe Hemler

Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer

Joe spent fifteen years as a security penetration tester, beginning his career in Ernst & Young’s Advanced Security Center (ASC) before co-founding Gotham Digital Science in 2005 (later acquired by Stroz/Aon in 2016). An avid developer and security tool builder, Joe designed many of the code review and dynamic testing harnesses we use today. He now oversees SendSafely’s engineering, infrastructure, and support programs. At SendSafely, a core company ethos is that the people who build the product are the ones answering your tickets and questions.

Andrew Nairn

Co-Founder & Chief Revenue Officer

As a co-founder, Andrew is responsible for SendSafely's sales and customer success functions. He brings 25+ years in the cybersecurity industry, including co-founding Gotham Digital Science, where he built teams of security specialists on both sides of the Atlantic as US and UK Director. After GDS's 2016 acquisition, he led Proactive Security Services at Aon Cyber Solutions. Andrew believes talking with customers is the most important part of the job — so if you sign on with SendSafely, there's a good chance you'll speak with a founder directly.

Meghan Dailey

Director of Business Operations

Meghan joined SendSafely in 2020 and leads the company's Finance, HR, and Legal functions. She brings over 15 years of strategic operations leadership across the tech and cybersecurity sectors, with prior senior roles at Aon and Stroz Friedberg building and scaling business operations for high-growth companies.

Allie Marsh

Director of Customer Success

Allie leads SendSafely's Customer Success team, dedicated to helping customers get the most out of the platform. She's passionate about building high-performing teams that deliver exceptional customer experiences and real results — because for Allie, every customer's wins are her team's wins too.

Gabe Keding

Director of Sales

Gabe leads Sales, Marketing, and Partnerships at SendSafely, connecting security, compliance, and IT teams with a product built for the way they already work. He joined in 2022 after five years at GovSpend, where he rose from sales executive to Director of Enterprise Sales. What he cares about most is building go-to-market teams and solving real problems for customers.
